The imminent arrival of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's baby has us cooing over some of our favourite sustainable baby clothing brands fit for a royal baby.

Natural organic fabrics that are kind to young skin, high quality items that can be handed down to siblings and friends, and sustainable, ethical production - these are all qualities that are becoming increasingly important when it comes to buying baby clothes, as parents strive to make choices that will be good for both baby and the planet.

Here are some of our favourite sustainable fashion labels for babies:

Purebaby

Australian brand Purebaby is passionate about social and environmental sustainability, and supporting community organisations that provide care and support to families and communities in need.  Its range of clothing from baby to toddler is made from organic cotton, and the entire end-to-end process, from the cotton through to factory standards and production methods is GOTS-certified.

Smalls

Another brand harnessing the power of wool for babywear is Smalls - the brainchild of New-Zealand-born mothers-of-three Catriona Pharo and Emma-Jane Adam. After their own babies were born, the former art director and marketing consultant discovered the advantages of 100% merino wool. Not only does it keep babies warm without over-heating, it is also fire retardant, anti-allergy, and has proven benefits for eczema-prone skin and can help your little one sleep. Layer up with Smalls' range of snuggly rompers, trousers and camis.
